Preventative Medicine
We believe preventative medicine is the key to provide lifelong health through annual exams, immunizations, spaying and neutering, dental cleanings, as well as geriatric profile. We will provide you with recommendations and information needed in helping you make educated decisions ensuring your pet gets the best care he or she deserves.
Vaccinations
Our goal is to provide the safest immunization schedule possible. Therefore, Aldie Veterinary Hospital has developed a proprietary program, we call CHARMS, which stands for Comprehensive Health Assessment and Risk Management System. Each vaccination schedule is tailored especially for your pet, based on the specific lifestyle and potential exposure to diseases. For more information, click here to visit Important Announcements.
Geriatric Care
As part of our preventative medicine, we recommend doing an annual geriatric profile on your pet. This profile includes blood work to look at organ function, as well as white and red blood cells. We also look at a urine sample to ensure the kidneys are functioning properly. We do recommend taking radio graphs to ensure the heart, lungs, kidney, spleen, liver, as well as other internal organs appear normal.
Diagnostic Services
Our hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment which allows our Veterinarians to provide immediate diagnostic services. Whether your pet needs an X-Ray, Ultrasound, ECG, Lab Work, or Blood Pressure monitoring, we have the necessary equipment at our fingertips, ensuring your pet gets the best possible care.
Laboratory
Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Pharmacy
We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, heart worm preventatives and flea and tick preventative to meet the needs of your pet.
Anesthesia
We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, our patient's vital signs are monitored at all times by one of our Licensed Veterinary Technicians, using ECG, Pulse Oximetry, as well as blood pressure monitoring before, during, and after all anesthetic procedures.
Surgery
Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures to include soft tissue, oral, orthopedics and specialized cosmetic procedures.
Dentistry
Routine teeth cleanings and polishing is an important and necessary part of preventative medicine. After your animal has a routine cleaning, our Licensed Veterinary Technicians will be happy to meet with you to help initiate a home dental program that works for both you and your pet. In addition to teeth cleaning, we have the ability to take x-rays, extract teeth, or perform oral surgery, if necessary.
Pain Management
It is our utmost priority to ensure your pet is kept comfortable before, during, and after any procedure, whether it be routine or major. We start any anesthetic procedure by giving your pet an injection of pain medication to help alleviate any associated pain. While hospitalized, we monitor your pet closely to assure their pain is managed. When your pet goes home, if needed, oral pain medication may be prescribed to insure your pet's recovery is pain-free.
Allergy Testing
Whether it is from their environment or the food they eat, many of our four-legged friends are burdened with allergies. Once your pet has been diagnosed with allergies, one of our Veterinarians may request allergy testing, as well as make other recommendations to help alleviate any symptoms your pet may be experiencing.
Individualized Parasite Control Programs
We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas, ticks, intestinal parasites, and mites.
Nutritional Counseling
We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight loss and maintenance, and performance.
Behavioral Counseling
We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
Emergency Care
During business hours, we have the ability to treat emergency situations. After seeing your pet, if it is decided your animal needs overnight monitoring, we will suggest transferring your pet to an emergency referral center. Please call our main telephone number for instructions for after-hours emergencies.
Referral Services
In the event we need to refer you to a veterinary referral center in order to treat your pet's unique condition, we will still be directly involved with your pet's treatment plan. Our Veterinarians keep close contact with the referral center to ensure your pet is getting the best possible care.
Grooming
Let us pamper your pet at our Day Spa! We provide pet grooming for all breeds of dogs and cats. Our grooming services include:
- Clipping and scissor cuts
- Dematting

Boarding
We provide boarding services for our client's dogs and cats. Our separate cat and dog wards ensure tranquility for the cats and companionship for the dogs. All of our cages and kennels are indoors and therefore, temperature controlled with installed smoke, heat, and motion detectors. Because boarding is supervised by a Veterinarian, you can be comforted that all of your pet's medications will be properly administered and he or she will receive prompt medical attention, if needed.
